Freeflight planes are very rewarding, but it is better to start with a plane that is forgiving of less-than-perfect building. I'd suggest a simple high wing model - the Vintage Model Company's Pilot or Buddy. The larger models fly even better - a Keil Kraft Ajax or Ace for example (I am not in the pay of VMC, they are good introductory models!).
